Why all meat delivery services aren’t created equal — here’s how we do it

These days, you’ll find a few choices of online meat sellers, but only one that provides quality, variety and 100% direct access to the individual farms that raised the meat.

Crowd Cow is a true, scaled alternative to the commodity meat regime that supplies everyone else ― and we do things better. Here’s how:

The Highest Quality & Greatest Selection

We've scoured the country for years, selecting only the very best independent and family-run craft meat farms and ranches — nearly 100 farms just in the United States — meeting each farmer and their families, taste-testing their meats, learning their practices and building long-lasting relationships.

With Crowd Cow, you have access to heritage breeds, unique feeds, regional and seasonal varieties, and limited-production specialties. We are bringing meat lovers, health-conscious eaters, ethical carnivores and even Michelin star chefs on a craft meat journey. It’s incredibly delicious and it’s not available anywhere else.

100% Transparency

In a world crowded with fake farm-sounding names, ambiguous labels and deceptive claims, Crowd Cow stands alone in telling the farmer’s story and including their name on every single cut we sell. It’s their life’s work and it’s worth celebrating.

Recipes for Every Cut

Every order is paired with recipes, tips and techniques. Choose the cuts you want and we’ll guide you. We hang with chefs, food influencers and legendary pitmasters to learn and share both the basics and tricks of the trade ― so you can be a culinary hero in your own right.

Whole Animal Cuts

Farms sell animals, meat brokers sell steaks. We work directly with craft meat farms, so we're able to offer an unparalleled variety of cuts.

Personalized Care

You're part of a craft meat movement inclusive of the independent farms we’ve discovered and other consumers of all walks of life. We're united in a desire to support and enjoy a better food system.

Crowd Cow is your concierge along the way, facilitating the journey and bringing people together. Our goal is to elevate your mealtime experience.

To make sure your experience is as successful as possible, we offer SMS support, personalized notes and recipes for every cut.

Order Rescheduling

Bad weather can interrupt shipments, so we continuously monitor the weather 24x7, and alert you if impending storms might affect your shipment. Or maybe your plans changed? Either way, just pick the date you'd rather receive your order and we're happy to oblige.

Outstanding Value

By working directly with farmers and small processors, we let you access quality and a variety that’s impossible to find elsewhere, at an outstanding price ― and with none of the hidden costs of super-scale, Big Ag industrial meat.

We Don’t Do Labeling Shenanigans

Radical transparency is simple: pay attention to the farmer, not the label ― the label isn’t telling you the full story, and it could actually be telling you a fake story.

Instead of hand-wavy claims about "access to pasture" and vague marketing speak like "responsible sourcing" ― we’d rather give you live-streams with the farmer.

We’d rather give you direct access to farms on homestead-deeded lands, raising purebred cattle on native prairie grasses ― instead of greenwashed claims for beef actually raised in feedlots fed organic grass pellets (see the report here).

In a world where nearly everyone relies on marketing fluff, stock photos and beef brokers, Crowd Cow stands alone in including the name of the actual farm on every single thing we sell.

Rare and Exclusive Meats

When we asked a farm co-op in Awaji, Japan (home to 70% of Kobe Beef producers) which producers they personally admired, they pointed us to Olive Wagyu ― and the way that those small farmers coordinated with olive oil makers to upcycle olive pulp in order to create an exceptionally rare, delicious and healthy Wagyu that’s creating buzz with Japan’s food insiders. Today, it’s easier to get Olive Wagyu via Crowd Cow in the USA than it is for someone living in Tokyo to get Olive Wagyu.

Likewise, when we heard about Burke's Garden Farm’s grass-finished Murray Grey beef from Amish country in Pennsylvania, it took weeks to coordinate the first phone call and farm visit, as they don’t use email. Was it worth it? If the customer raves and reviews are any indication, then yes, it was definitely worth it.

Connection to Farmers

We only work with farms. It’s their name that matters, not ours. You ordered your meat via Crowd Cow, but it comes from the farm. They do the important work and it’s why their name is on every single cut.

Once you get accustomed to sharing a Crowd Cow meal around the table — while also sharing the story of the farm who raised your meat — it will start to feel unacceptable to enjoy it any other way.

Truly Eco-Friendly Packaging

Our packaging isn’t just recyclable, the insulation is backyard compostable and dissolves in the sink. This is more important than ever because China no longer accepts much of our country’s recyclables — unless it’s biodegradable, it could end up in a landfill. That's why Crowd Cow uses 100% biodegradable insulation made from non-GMO cornstarch that can return back to the earth it came from.
