Pony ride at Harlow Cattle Company
In early May 2018, Becky Harlow Weed of Harlow Cattle Company graciously invited us to visit her ranch in Spanaway, Washington.
Although Becky is a long time friend of Joe and Ethan, the Crowd Cow team was able to get to know her better during our day on the ranch while also experiencing what it's like to work on a farm.
Crowd Cow has partnered with Harlow Cattle Co. since early 2016 and Harlow's beef is known and loved by our customers. Seeing Becky in action makes us appreciate her hard work and fantastic beef even more!
View of Mt Rainier on a sunny day
Harlow Ranch welcomed us with breathtaking views of Mount Rainier, still slightly covered by the late morning fog and framed by vibrant purple flowers and lush green prairies. In the distance, cows grazed happily on land just for them.
Becky welcomed us with open arms, greeting us like old friends while hustling around her farmhouse kitchen to prepare her famous brisket. On an average day, Becky finishes at least ten different projects before noon, ranging from rotating her herd to building setam buffers. Things that would take us an entire day to accomplish!
Peter and Hide working hard
As she wrangled the horses and cattle, we prepared for a day of hard work digging fence posts. In order to show our appreciation to Becky and give back to the local farming community, 15 Crowd Cow employees helped dig holes and put up fence posts around the farm. After just an hour, we were drained! This opened our eyes to how physically exhausting it can be to operate a successful cattle ranch.
Enjoying the picnic
Becky Harlow is truly one-of-a-kind and she runs the show by herself every day! After finishing our work, the team went back to the house to enjoy a charming outdoor barbecue. With bright tablecloths, delightful floral arrangements, and hay bales to be used as benches, we enjoyed a rustic afternoon in true farmhouse fashion. You could smell the hot brisket and juicy burgers from across the farm! To make it even better, Becky also brought out her homemade dill pickles, mouthwatering brisket, and famous rhubarb lemonade.
Delicious good, great company, amazing memories. Thank you so much for your generosity, Becky!
